Elsewhere is Always Better
64 pages, 14,8 x 21 cm
Year: 2025
For over four decades, Vivian Ostrovsky’s extraordinary, enigmatic, and humorous films have been featured at international festivals. The retrospective BUT ELSEWHERE IS ALWAYS BETTER presents Ostrovsky’s influential work in its entirety for the first time – as a filmmaker, a passionate film explorer and a “passeuse de films.” The film series is taking place at two locations in Berlin: Akademie der Künste and Zeughauskino.
A brochure featuring texts by Bert Rebhandl, Esther Buss, Lukas Förster, Jon Gartenberg, Friederike Horstmann, Ulrike Ottinger, Fernanda Pessoa and Sissi Tax will be available from mid-November as part of the exhibition. Organised by Stephan Ahrens, Petra Palmer, and Sissi Tax. The project was made possible with funding from the Hauptstadtkulturfonds.
